FIU Engages Accountants Through the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants to Raise Awareness on Money Laundering Risks

Monday, 16/03/2026

The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) provided a presentation  to the Accountants on “Understanding Money Laundering Risks: Safeguarding Accountants Against Vulnerabilities” at the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA) Technical Workshop that was held on 14 March 2026.

The workshop was attended by about 200 participants and key discussion points included:
  • Understanding the primary risks and vulnerabilities within the accounting profession; and
  • Emphasing the importance of safeguarding the profession from misuse.
By engaging accountants through FICA, FIU reinforced the profession’s critical role as financial gatekeepers in the fight against money laundering and other financial crimes. This collaboration underscores the shared responsibility of regulators and practitioners in upholding trust, transparency, and integrity across Fiji’s financial and business sectors.
